Online Mental Health Therapist to NYS Residents

Hello! Are you feeling overwhelmed? I want you to know: you don’t have to figure it out alone, and you don’t have to arrive already knowing what’s wrong.

In our work together, that might look like learning to notice a wave of anxiety before it takes over, and having a concrete way to ride it out instead of getting swept up in it. It might mean naming an old pattern in the moment it’s happening, rather than only recognizing it in hindsight. And it might mean slowing down enough to actually feel and process something difficult, instead of just managing around it.

I draw from the following therapy approaches, using practical skills you can use between sessions alongside space to reflect on what’s underneath.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build skills for managing intense emotions.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge limiting beliefs.
  • Psychodynamic therapy delves into the unconscious root patterns.
  • Ackerman relational approach (ARA) to transform individual distress by healing and reshaping the communication, behavior, and relational patterns within the entire family system.
  • Trauma-Informed approaches center safety and stability while processing painful experiences.

I also bring a particular attunement to multicultural and immigrant experiences, shaped in part by my own background growing up between the UK and Hungary — I understand what it’s like to hold more than one cultural identity at once, and I don’t assume a single frame fits everyone.

In our first few sessions, expect us to spend time simply building trust and getting a clear picture of what’s brought you in — there’s no fixed script to bring with you. From there, the work takes shape around what actually matters to you, and I’ll check in regularly on whether it’s landing.

My name is Anna Scholcz, and I’m a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) practicing under supervision in New York, working with adults ages 14 and up. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real, human process rather than a clinical one, and there’s nothing quite like being part of the moment things start to click for someone. If this resonates, I’d be glad to hear from you.
